Once my chemo was done in April, flew to London 3 days later for a cruise.  It had been planned before the diagnosis.  Friends from college joined us.  In London, we had two nights before the cruise.  My friend Maria from college had flown earlier that week and was at the hotel.  Also my cousin, Marian, from Nottingham came down.  Marian is the cousin I have the best relationship with. After divorce in 1961, her mother took her back to England, we reconnected 30 something years ago when I went to London for a weekend break from a stressful job.  Was a good visit, did get to see Charles, the Queen, Princess Di, and the Queen Mother. Our hotel was in Mayfair and very nice, The Cavendish Hotel . We hung out on that Saturday, went to a nice pub, The Red Lion .  Most had Fish 'n Chips with Mushy Peas, what else do you order.  Walked around to Piccadilly Circus, then back to the hotel.  Spent the evening chatting.  So things that go on as you age... I n past two or so years, I have had two rounds of cancer.  Yes, lots of fun.  The first, just over two years ago was throat cancer, caused by HPV.  For those with children/grand children, get the vaccine.  Was 7 rounds of chemo and 35 radiation treatments.  The radiation was the roughest, side effect were brutal. It basically destroys most things in the area, taste buds, throat lining, thyroid. I lost over 100 pounds, which I needed, and eventually the side effects diminished after almost two years. The before photo and after photos.  After the radiation, eating was not a priority.  No urge to eat and, nothing had any taste.  Did drink fluids and high protein drinks, but the pounds just kept leaving.  Since I was on the large size, no feeding tube was inserted.  Kept a positive attitude and things were okay.  PET scan in June 2024, it was clear, Happy Days!
